Jazmyn Simon and Dulé Hill's Beautiful Wedding in Antigua, Guatemala

Your favorite Ballers couple has tied the knot! On April 21, 2018, Jazmyn Simon and Dulé Hill (who you might also recognize from West Wing and Psych!) said “I do” in Antigua, Guatemala, a historic city in the country's highlands. The pair first met and fell in love on the set of Ballers, two years before Dulé popped the question in Ojai, California. “He’d planned to propose on a hot air balloon ride but it was too windy, so he proposed in front of the balloon instead,” Jazmyn remembers.

As they planned their nuptials, the couple sought a venue that was symbolic of their love and found Las Capuchinas, a stunning 18th-century church. “Despite time and circumstances, the church has remained standing for nearly three centuries," explains the bride. "It stood the test of time, as we are certain our love will.” The church inspired a romantic, elegant theme that was enhanced by the venue's dramatic ruins. The ceremony was romantic as well, with Jazmyn and Dulé exchanging emotional vows and Allison Janney reciting a poem about love and companionship.

Keep reading for all the details on the couple's special day, as planned by Gladys Santizo of Saguzo Eventos and captured by Christina Craft and Derek Mohhninger of FunkyTown Photography. Instead of a traditional invitation, Dulé and Jazmyn sent each guest a letter inviting them to join the celebration. They also included a note detailing the church’s history, which explained how earthquakes have shaken the church's foundation over the years, yet it has never fallen. (What a fitting place to begin a life together!)

“Before I even started dress shopping, I knew I wanted a Berta dress,” says Jazmyn, who gravitated toward figure-flattering mermaid silhouettes. In fact, her beaded Berta gown was actually the first she tried on! “It took me a month to make my decision, but I kept coming back to this romantic style,” she says. The bride completed her ensemble with Charlotte Olympia heels, Maria Elena jewelry, and a soft, natural beauty look by her team. “Having my team there made the morning stress-free,” she says.

The bride and her ‘maids, in blush-hued Joanna August designs, carried bouquets of cream and pink roses. Dulé wore a classic Ralph Lauren tuxedo with a black bowtie, while his groomsmen (including Psych co-star James Roday) wore straight ties with their tuxedos by The Black Tux.

The ceremony took place in the gardens of Las Capuchinas, where guests sat in a semicircle around an altar. The altar was decorated with hanging blooms and candles, while chairs were dressed with bundles of baby's breath.

“I felt like I was in a dream—I’d planned the wedding for a year, and there I was, standing across from the man of my dreams and reciting vows that would make us husband and wife," Jazmyn recalls. "I wish I could relive it!”

Following the ceremony, guests gathered in the courtyard for cocktails while Jazmyn and Dulé got a sneak peek at the reception space, which was set inside the historic church. There, two long tables were covered in greenery garlands and low arrangements of pink and white flowers.

The couple was joined by a number of costars-turned-friends (like Richard Schiff, Allison Janey, and Maggie Lawson!), who partied with them at the reception. Jazmyn and Dulé handed scratch-off tickets during the party, which was a fun way for guests to interact with one another.

The couple (and their pro team!) used tons of light to showcase the stunning venue's historic features. Tables were lit with the warm glow of candlelight (from dozens of tall candelabras!), while spotlights were projected on the brick walls. It was the perfect setting for the elegant menu of tuna tartare with avocado and tamarind, grilled tenderloin with porcini mushrooms, and sea bass with cilantro mojo sauce.

The couple's friend DJ D Nice flew in from New York City to deejay the reception. "There was a full-fledged party before Dulé and I even got there," says the bride, with a laugh. In fact, the dancing kicked off before dinner—and they had to force people off the dance floor! "When the entrées were served, our wedding planner had to come get me off of the dance floor," says the bride. "It was the best wedding reception I’ve ever been to!”

The reception ended with a bang—literally! As guests poured out of the church on their way to the after-party, the sky was filled with fireworks. “We were absolutely overjoyed,” says Jazmyn. “Our closest family and friends were all there having the best night. I felt so grateful to have them there with us.”
